NAU History Resources in Special Collections and Archives: Photographs and Films

Official photographs of people and activities on campus have generally been created through the university's marketing and/or public affairs offices. Over the years these offices have been merged and the task of taking official photographs of people and activities was delegated to many different individuals. As such, Special Collections and Archives has a comprehensive set of images, the bulk of which comprise the 1940s through the 1980s.

A small selection of images have been selected, digitized, described, and made available through Cline Library Digital Collections.

Search NAU photographs in Digital Collections

A significant number of images are either processed or unprocessed, but are not available online. A descriptive finding aid and search strategies for finding relevant non-digitized images is available.

Review inventory and instructions for accessing non-digitized NAU photographs

A preliminary inventory of footage recorded by NAU departments--comprising myriad events and individuals and predominantly in VHS format--is available upon request.

A selection of films made documenting the construction of the Tozan Kiln in 1985 have been digitized and are available online through Cline Library Digital Collections.
