AI Literacy

How Cline Library Can Help

Our Research and Instruction Librarians uses information literacy to teach students the "why" instead of only the "how," and that information literacy helps them to think of themselves as creators and participants in scholarly communication. Information Literacy also addresses competencies that students need to develop in order to become skillful researchers.

This has informed our development of the Information Literacy Basics tutorial and to the development of advanced information literacy assignments with our faculty colleagues.

To learn more our approach and our instructional support, please visit our Faculty Services page or contact your librarian.

Generative AI and Pedagogy

Thinking about Generative AI as a pedagogy problem, rather than a plagiarism problem, is a way to approach our teaching generatively.

Scaffolding mitigates library anxiety, imposter syndrome, and accidental plagiarism.

Rather than assigning a big, summative paper or project at the end of the course, breaking it up into stages with student reflection reinforces original work and a growth mindset that can reduce the perceived need for students using a tool such as ChatGPT.
