Digital Literacy Series

Come learn how to investigate true crime with online research, manage your health information, and understand the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

Think you can uncover the truth behind the true crime? Follow the evidence with us as we dive into a real criminal case to analyze the various ways in which information can be distorted or manipulated.

In this interactive session, attendees will evaluate news, popular media and other information to figure out what’s been sensationalized versus what’s trustworthy - and the murky in-between. Participants will walk away with skills to figure out when you are being misled by your favorite true crime podcast or the latest Netflix docu-series. Will you be able to start your own local citizen detective agency? No promises.

Note: The case examined involves a child’s death. If you are hesitant about this topic and would like to know the name of the case beforehand please reach out.
