Using the Studio

Before you Begin

  1. Visit the library's Ask Us! Desk to confirm your reservation and check out a key to the Studio.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the features and capabilities of the One Button Studio.
  3. Please note that a flash drive formatted as FAT is required to use the One Button software.
    • Refer to the “How to Format a Flash Drive to FAT” guide for additional help.
  4. Please note that if you use the green/blue screen feature all background images must be added in post-production using video editing software (like Adobe’s Premiere Pro).
  5. Please do not move the camera, lights, or backdrop - these must remain stationary.
  6. Chairs, stools, and risers are available to help set the desired scene.

During your Experience

  1. To begin, log on to the One Button console (if prompted for a password, leave the password field blank) and load the “One Button Studio” software.
  2. Next, insert your flash drive into the terminal provided on the One Button console. Please note that your drive must be formatted as FAT in order to work with the One Button software. Instructions on how to change the format of your drive are available in the studio.
  3. After a few moments a video preview should load on the One Button console screen. Please note that there is a slight lag in the video preview - this lag will not affect the final recording.
  4. Once you are ready to start your recording, click the “one button” on the floor (in red) to begin your video.
  5. When you are finished with your recording, click the “one button” a second time to complete your video.
  6. Your video will be automatically saved to your flash drive in the standard mp4 format. Please note that you are welcome to record as many takes/videos as you would like, but each will be saved as a separate mp4 file.
  7. If you intend to use the green/blue screen feature of this studio please note that you are unable to change the background in real time. All green/blue screen effects must be done after your video has been recorded using a post-production video editing program like Adobe Premiere Pro.
  8. If you’d like to use the presentation console and screen to display a PowerPoint presentation or other image, please log in using your NAU username and password.

Formatting your Flash Drive as FAT

  1. Open Windows File Explorer and locate your desired USB drive under “This PC.”
  2. Right-click on the USB drive to open the grey pop-up menu, then select “Format” from the list of options.
  3. Once the “Format” menu opens, find the setting for “File System” and select FAT32 from the drop-down list.
  4. Then click “Start” to begin the formatting process. NOTE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON YOUR USB DRIVE.
  5. Note that the reformatting process will delete all data on your USB drive. You may wish to backup your data before reformatting. Click “OK” to continue.
  6. Once the reformatting process is complete you are free to use your USB drive with the One Button Studio software.

Before You Leave

  1. Remember to remove your flash drive from the One Button console terminal.
